Q. How do I know when I’m operating on the back-up light bulb?
A. The amber LED, on both sides of the pattern control mechanism and on the wall control, will light. If both bulbs are burned out the amber LED will slowly blink.
Q. If the power goes out and back on will the lights come back on?
A. If the power goes out the lights have a memory chip that will bring them back to the previous setting once power is restored.
Q. Can I use any bulb in the light?
A. The NUVO light head is designed to filter out both the ultraviolet and infrared components of this bulb. Additionally, the filament location and power rating are critical, as such the use of any other bulb can be hazardous and will not provide proper light characteristics. Call to order spare bulbs P/N S2Q00006.
Q. How do I turn the light on?
A. The light and intensity settings can be adjusted by either the wall control up/down button or the teal button on the end of the sterile handle. By pushing either of these buttons the intensity level of the light can be increased or decreased and by depressing either for 3 seconds the light can be turned off. Depress the button again and the light will turn on.
Q. Will the reflector degrade over time?
A. The reflector is polished and sealed by a special chemical process that assures it will last for the life of the light without
Q. Is the control handle sterilizable?
A. Yes, it can be sterilized three ways.
1. Cold, by using cleaners recommended for hospitals and authorized by a competent health authority.
2. Standard gravity steam cycle of 250°F for 25-30 minutes.
3. Flash steam - 270-274°F @30 psi (132-136°C @207 kPa) for minimum of 3 minutes.
Q. Can the lens be replaced if needed?
A. Yes, if it is damaged it can be replaced. We also recommend using our anti-static lens cleaner P/N P001114 that will keep the surface from hazing. Under normal conditions it should never need to be replaced.

Q. What is the purpose of the AUX. output?
A. In the event of a power failure to the switching amplifier board, or a wiring or monitor failure this output routes the video signal to a back-up monitor on a cart. This back-up feature allows the OR staff to quickly connect up a monitor in the event of an emergency
Q. What is the life of the LCD monitors?
A. Our monitors are warranted for three years and can be expected to function much longer. Over time there is a gradual degradation of brightness that varies by use and is common in all display devices.
Q. Are the NUVO LCD’s protected against cleaning fluids?
A. The NUVO monitors are low voltage devices (24V) and are sealed. There are no internal fans or vents therefore they can be wiped with a damp cloth and cleaning solution. As with any product however, excessive moisture should be avoided.
Q. Does the sterile handle on the monitor accept the same glove as the sterile handle on the light?
A. Yes, and it can also be sterilized by the same methods used for the light handles.
